Major Lazer continues to build the hype surrounding their sophomore album Free The Universe by dropping preview tracks by the minute. The latest one comes from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, who premiered a new track from the crew titled “Jessica” over the weekend.

Featuring Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, “Jessica” is a classic reggae track with various dub influences. Surprisingly, Koenig’s high-pitched voice seams well with the sweet melodies of the song.

Snoop Dogg has recently been making the transition to a reggae artist, adopting the moniker “Snoop Lion”. In efforts to prove himself, he has once again teamed up with producers Major Lazer and Dre Skull for his third single “Lighters Up”.

The uplifting song is about unity and loving your fellow brother, but it is ironic how neither Dancehall artist references the other. It is highly probable that the two did not record together. It would have been a more meaningful song – to Jamaicans specifically – if the two had acknowledged each other to continue the end of the Gully/Gaza tension.

Snoop Dogg’s reggae album Reincarnated  will be released early 2013.

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, The Prodigy is planning an album re-release that will include remixes from their greatest hits.

“Smack My Bitch Up” is one of The Prodigy’s most known songs, and Major Lazer took the role of remixing it into trap-house gold.

The album will also include remixes from renowned electronic acts like Baauer, Noisia, Alvin Risk, Zeds Dead and the Glitch Mob.

As the band gears for the release of their second album, Free The Universe, Major Lazer has premiered the first single “Jah No Partial”. The tune, featuring dubstep artist Flux Pavilion, samples reggae artist’s Johnny Osbourne’s “Mr. Marshall.”

The track definitely puts back the much-needed “dub” back into dubstep.

Look out for Free The Universe, coming February 19.
