Music Bite: Lady Gaga Reveals Artwork For New Single “Applause”
July 29, 2013 § 2 Comments
Lady Gaga’s upcoming single “Applause” is planned for an August 19 release, and the singer has just revealed the artwork for the highly anticipated tune. Taking inspiration from David Bowie (as she did with the thunder sign under eye during The Fame era) Gaga’s face is painted like a white canvas with watercolor-like strokes applied around it.
The image, shot by frequent collaborators Inez & Vinoodh, is truly beautiful and provoking which hopefully gives a little insight to what “Applause” will sound like. She shared with WWD the inspiration behind the song: “I’ll tell you that it is very fun. And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.”
Lady Gaga will perform the single at this year’s MTV VMAs on August 25, and her third studio album ARTPOP will be released on November 11.
