Jackie Scott – Pink Hot Blush: Album Review

April 30, 2012 § Leave a comment

Music newcomer Jackie Scott is strongly eyeing the Electro-Pop world with her new EP Pink Hot Blush! The collection of songs showcases the NYC-based singer’s fun personality and catchy sound.

The single “Love Sick” is one perfect for the club with its electro-based sound, and will have everyone dancing with their spilled drinks high in the air. But “Don’t Mess With Me” shows the singer turning into a robot, with autotune overshadowing her delicate voice. It sounds like a washed-out Ke$ha if she was from Brooklyn, and it doesn’t quite hit home.

“Meet Me At The Corner” is supposed to be a sultry track, but the vocals aren’t convincing enough. Scott tries to be seductive but ends up sounding like a teenager trying to act tough. Also, the rhythm with its various effects sound too busy. But Scott makes it up with “Train Wreck”, a cool and flirty track backed by a confident Scott. The track could be elevated by letting go of the buzzing sound effect and coming with a stronger beat.

Once she gets more exposure, becomes consistent with quality, gets some heavier beats and finds her own identity in this crazy Pop world, then it will be possible for Jackie Scott to make a name for herself.

Overall Rating: 2.5/5

Rihanna proves that she derserves her superstar crown in her new video for club banger “Where Have You Been”, off her latest album Talk That Talk.

The video shows the singer – who usually does not dance – rocking to some intense choreography alongside a tribal-inspired backdrop.

It’s fire.

If you read this blog, it should be quite obvious that I’m a huge fan of Lana Del Rey. I love her album and all the remixes that various producers created from it.

Last night, Harlem rapper Azealia Banks dropped a brand new LDR remix, this time for Born To Die’s “Blue Jeans.”

The remix, produced by Foster The People’s Mark Foster & Isom Innis, has an electro-house groove that is perfect for the club.
