Lana Del Rey’s Team Cancels Tour Plans *UPDATE* There Was No Spring Tour To Begin With

It looks like Lana Del Rey’s uber-criticized SNL performance last month took a toll on her team.
Interscope (her record label), her management team and her booking agents have decided to scrap her 30-day tour that was supposed to begin later in the year, due to endless scrutiny of the singer’s performance on the comedy show.
A source (who noted that Del Rey was upset over the news) tells the New York Post’s Page Six:
“They [Del Rey’s management] figure it allows time for her to clear her head, then go back to selling tickets. More importantly, they figure, the extra time gives them more distance from SNL.”
Despite the cancelled tour, there are still people who support the singer. Below is SNL’s Kristen Wiig’s impersonation of the singer, who actually defends her despite the funny nature of the skit.
*UPDATE* A plan for a spring tour was false, so there was nothing to cancel. Read the message from her publicist,
Lana told MTV several weeks ago that she plans to tour in October. There has never been a spring tour announced or cancelled.
Lana continues to perform in public and on TV. She gave a fantastic performance on Letterman last week; she will appear at the Amoeba in LA today, and the SF Amoeba on Thursday.
She’s been extremely active in Europe as well in support of Born to Die, which is having historic success in its first week of sales (we’ll report on sales numbers tomorrow).
Be sure to pick up your copy of Born To Die (which is the fastest-selling album of 2012 to date) now!
