My Super Playlist: Halloween ’11 Edition!

October 31, 2011 § 1 Comment

Halloween in its true form is one of the most frightening holidays ever. To give praise to the witches, ghouls, and zombies out there, I’ve made a Halloween playlist that serves to rattle your brain a little bit.

In No Particular Order:

1. Britney Spears – “Scary”

It wouldn’t be my blog if I didn’t add some pop on this list. Even though it’s an upbeat song, it has an eerie feel that is reminiscent of MJ’s “Thriller”.

2. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – “Heads Will Roll” (NOT the remix)

This is another upbeat song, yet the Alice In Wonderland- inspired track boasts: “Off with your head, dance till you’re dead.” If that doesn’t freak you out, I don’t know what will.

3. Crystal Castles – “Fainting Spells”

The electro-duo is spooky enough, and this track exemplifies that. Alice Glass’s nails-on-a-board vocals combined with the distorted synths will definitely have chills running down your spine.

4. Michael Jackson – “Ghosts”

“Ghosts” (off Blood on the Dancefloor) integrates choppy electro synths and high-pitched screams with MJ’s trembling vocals makes the listener just as scared as the artist.

5. The Dead Weather – “Rocking Horse”

The brash and guiltless lyrics set the tone for this shaky song. I wouldn’t want to get on the band’s bad side…

I drank some dirty water
Shook evil hands
I’ve done some bad things
And they get easier to do

6. Tyler The Creator feat. Hodgy Beats – “Sandwitches”

I advise you to not listen to this song before bedtime. Tyler is a scary ass motherfucker with some seriously chilling vocals and raps. But this song takes it to the next level with evil-sounding beats that even the Devil himself wouldn’t fuck with.

7. The Pretty Reckless – “Make Me Wanna Die”

Death may be the subject of this song, but lead singer Taylor Momsen fully embraces it. In fact, she will go as far as burning alive for her lover. Nope, not creepy at all…

8. Vybz Kartel – “Kill Dem All & Done”

The Dancehall artist is downright merciless in this haunting song. He’s ready to go to war and will kill anyone in his path without thinking twice.

9. Pink Floyd – “Lucifer Sam”

Lucifer, or the Devil as we like to call him, is the most evil being in history. So you know this rumbling riff-filled song is terrifying if it centers around him.

10. The Kills – “Fried My Little Brains”

The alternative rock-duo makes fried brains sound like a tasty Halloween treat, if you’re into that sort of thing.
