Coachella 2011: Best Of…Style Edition!

Even though I wasn’t able to attend one of the best music festivals in the world (I’m weeping as I type), I was still able to enjoy the 3-day festival thanks to Coachella’s Youtube account, Twitter updates, and blog posts. The performers were outstanding and the vibe was very cool, but my favorite part of Coachella and any music festival is the style! From celebrities to local California hipsters, I present to you my top picks of the best Coachella style looks!
Actress Kate Bosworth is known for her nouveau-hippie/hipster style, and this look is a perfect example of it. While I’m not the biggest fan of the mainstream hipster look, I do love how Bosworth’s stylist paired a simple Topshop tee with white denim cutoffs. The look is fresh, All-American, and very California.
Sheer tops are one of my top trends for Spring ’11, and this concert-goer pulls off the look effortlessly! I like how the beaded-gauzy top is juxtaposed with a tough boot; it makes the outfit a little less girly. Classic aviators & simple jewelry top off the look perfectly.
I really like the high/low mix of this outfit. This Coachella-attendee is rocking a vintage Mickey Mouse tank with some very bad-ass 3.1 Phillip Tim high-waisted shorts. The neutral color combination is fresh; it makes her outfit stand out in a sea of Technicolor florals. Check out her beaded green purse too; it’s pretty awesome!
I love this outfit because it’s a different take on the ubiquitous floral print. The mullet-style dress gives the look a playful edge, & the cinched waist provides some shape as well. The muted print combined with a floppy wide-brim hat brings me back to the early Seventies, which is very appropriate for a California music festival. I also like how her ombre hair matches her purse, very interesting!
Swedish style blogger Elin Kling takes many classic pieces (basic tee, cutoff shorts, wide-brim hat) and puts her own spin on it with this outfit. The outfit is simple, understated, and not fussy which I can appreciate. I also want her boots!
“Sucker Punch” star Jamie Chung rocks the mixed-print trend very well! While they are opposites, the zig-zag & floral prints complement each other as they share similar rose colors. The cobalt bag adds a nice electric pop of color while the lace-up boots gives the look some edge. I’m a fan!
