It’s Official! Raf Simons Taking John Galliano’s Place at Dior
April 11th, 2012 § Leave a Comment
The rumors can now be put to rest: Raf Simons is now the official creative director for Christian Dior. The designer, who recently left Jil Sander, will be filling in John Galliano’s space at the luxury house.
For over a year, after Galliano was fired from Dior due to his anti-Semitic rants, designers like Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Ricardo Tisci were all in talks of becoming the next creative director for Dior. But Simons has finally secured the coveted spot.
The designer told the New York Time’s Cathy Horyn, “The first time I heard about the Dior position I thought, ‘This feels right.’ ”
It will be exciting to see how Simons will change the face of Dior, seeing how Galliano made the brand all his own.
What are your thoughts? Does Simons have what it takes?

February 26th, 2012 § Leave a Comment
Fashion’s musical chairs just keeps on shuffling! The industry recently reported the departure of Raf Simons from Jil Sander, and the return of Sander to her label.
There is now breaking news of Hedi Slimane taking over Stefano Pilati’s role as creative director for luxury house YSL.
According to Fashionista, a source told AFP “[Silmane] will become the new creative director at YSL,” and that “the contract has been signed by both parties.”
PPR, the parent group of YSL, has not yet confirmed.
Slimane made his debut at YSL designing mesnwear in 1996 and left the house in 2001 to serve as the creative director for Dior Homme until 2007. After that, the praised designer left the fashion world to pursue photography.
The have been endless rumors of Pilati’s departure from YSL, and it should be noted that his contract ends next month without any word of it being renewed.
As of now, there has not been any word of where Pilati will head.
Could it possibly be Dior?
Stay tuned…
